George Steuart & Co Ltd, the oldest mercantile establishment in Sri Lanka was founded in 1835 (170 years ago) by British Sea Captain James Steuart.

The operations of the pharmaceutical division as George Steuart (Agencies) Ltd was started in 1986 to import and distribute pharmaceutical preparation island wide.

Within a short period of 18 years, George Steuart (Agencies) Limited. has grown steadily whilst competing with many reputed companies that have been in operation for many years in the pharmaceutical trade. Today George Steuart (Agencies) Limited has successfully emerged as the 8th largest pharmaceutical importer in the private sector.
